本年11月18・19日（水・木）の2日間にわたり、「第3回武術太極拳ワールドカップ大会」が東京・両国国技館で開催決定となりました。その公式キャラクターのモチーフは、日本を連想させるものの中で、近年諸外国からクローズアップされる機会も多い『忍者』。 顔には歌舞伎の隈取をうっすらのせて和の雰囲気を、手には中国武術を象徴する太極拳（太極剣）・長拳（槍術）・南拳（南刀）という｢国際競技３種目」の武器を携え、｢日本｣と｢中国武術｣をそれぞれに強調、そして密接に関連づけたイメージキャラクターとなっております！
また、シンボルマークのデザインは｢日の丸｣に、日本を強くイメージさせる｢桜と富士山｣を配し、そこに国際競技３種目である【太極拳（Taijiquan）】の"T"（ピンク）、【長拳（Changquan）】の"C"（ミントグリーン）、【南拳（Nanquan）】の"N"（パープル）の各頭文字をデザイン化したモノを組み合わせてあります。これらのパターン（図形）は"炎" をイメージし、日本（日の丸であり太陽でもある）の武術界に満ちあふれるエネルギーが大きく湧き出る様を表し、同時に躍動する世界の武術選手達を表現しています。
両国国技館という、日本武道の聖地で開催される中国武術の世界的祭典。
