今年多くのファンに惜しまれつつ引退された内山高志選手所属のワタナベボクシングジム。そこで20年近くトレーナーに従事されてきたのが塚本耕司氏です。在籍当時、塚本氏の指導は大変人気でトレーナーとしてもの凄い数のボクサーや会員を指導されてこられました。しかし指導する人数に比例しそれだけ指導法も増えていき、より良い指導法を模索していく中で出会ったのが、様々な武術であり療術であったと氏は語ります。
そうした真摯な姿勢は多くのボクサーや会員に慕われ、ジムを退職後も多くの仲間との交流が途切れない塚本氏が長年にわたって研鑽されてきた技術の一端がこのタイトルには収められています。また巻末には療術をベースとした指導シーンも収録されており、大変貴重な物になっています。
