　"見えない動き"を体現する稀代の武術家、黒田鉄山氏。YouTubeなどでも見る事のできるその動きは世界を驚かせ続けているが、果たしてなぜ"見えない"のか？
　古流武術における肝は「型」。黒田氏が"見えない動き"を獲得したのは、「型稽古」の中からだという。しかし、生半可な難しさではない。現代スポーツの感覚でスピード・アップをはかるのとはまったく違う、動きの質転換をはからねばならない。そんな古流武術の奥深さ、そして黒田氏が日々の稽古の中から少しずつ"極意"を獲得していく過程、苦闘の様が綴られた貴重な記録が本書だ。
　本書は三部作（続刊：『気剣体一致の「改」』『気剣体一致の「極」』）の第一巻であり、1998年に初版が発行された『武術的身体を創る』の新装改訂版。この17年の間に修業、進化、開眼を重ねてきた"現在"の黒田氏によって全面的に改筆が行われている。また、今回は黒田道場独自の稽古法「遊び稽古」が新収録された。
